Finally a Saturday with nothing planned

…and hopefully it will stay that way. The past 3 weekends we’ve either been @ a wedding or my birthday party in Houston.  So a queit weekend, albeit not at home, has been very nice.

I started this weekend with a trip to the masseuse in Granbury. As part of Valentine’s Day from Dixie this year she had gotten me an appointment @ a boutique in Granbury where I got an hour deep tissue massage. After the 2 days of trauma after the 1st one I felt great the next month or so. My Back and shoulders were really feeling great. I decided to get another appointment yesterday and go back., after 2 months of sitting in front of a computer for 8-10 hours a day and driving 6,000 miles, I was in need of another rub.  Today, a day after my neck and shoulders are really sore and my arms were last night, but they feel much better.  Last time my back was really sore in a few places where I had a few “knots”, but this time not so much.  The masseuse said it wouldn’t be because she had loosened them up last time, and getting a regular monthly massage would keep it that way.

Today we’ve done nothing and I’ve really liked it.  We’re in Granbury @ Dixie’s parent’s house.  That usually means just hanging out & relaxing, & eating good healthy food.  I watched an episode of LOST online this morning. Since I’ve missed the last 2 episodes of LOST, the DVR has been overbooked the past weeks.  Now the rest of day is going to be spent watching the Masters, random baseball, and soccer. we’ll have a nice dinner with Dixies’s Family, then tomorrow we have church with Dixie’s parents, then an hour and a half drive back to Dallas.  Happy Easter everyone!!!

Past Weekend & Rangers Opening Day

This past weekend was really nice one spent in the Brazos Valley.  We went down to College Station, for Brent’s wedding at a nice bed and breakfast in Navasota.  The name of the B&B was Bogart’s.  The wedding started @ 3pm, the reception wasn’t until 6pm.  At first we thought what are we going to do for 2 1/2 hours, but the bar opened up and some appetizers were served so we just hung out and caught up with Houston friends in the nice back yard of Bogart’s.  Dinner was fine I opted for the steak, I had one bite of the groom’s cake, some sort of Oreo tasting, not sure it was Oreo, but that’s what it tasted like.  We left about 10:30, I dropped off Dixie @ Matt and Chris’s house where were staying and headed over the Patrick’s apartment, where for the 3rd weekend played Rock Band until about 3am.

This morning we got up took my youngest brother Patrick to eat @ Ozona’s in C station, not really that good.  The Ice tea was good, and drinking is really the only reason I have gone to Ozona’s in the past in Dallas and it will stay that way.  After lunch we headed back to Dallas and got in around 6:30pm.

Tomorrow I have the day off.  Due to some economic short comings our company has required all “Exempt” employees to take 2 unpaid days off a month.  So I’m taking off tomorrow b/c it’s opening day for the Texas Rangers.  While I’m not much of a Rangers fan, I am a huge baseball fan.  Opening day is one of greatest days of the year for a baseball fan.  There are so many traditions that the great game of baseball and opening day bottles almost all of them up.  This will be the 3rd Rangers opening day for me.  I’ve never made it to see my team the Houston Astros opening day, but I will sometime.  The excitement that surrounds an opening day game is almost like a playoff game atmosphere.  The game is @ 1pm so we’ll head out there pretty early and tailgate  I think we’ll try and be out there by about 10:30…play some “Bags”, have a few cold ones, though I think it’s only going to get up to the lower 60′s tomorrow so may a warm one is in order.  I think George W. it throwing out the first pitch, so I think I’ll try to make it to the seats by then.   GO ASTROS!!!!

Another Busy Weekend

So this weekend…in about 40 minutes, Dixie and I will embark on another journey across Texas.  This time to College Station for a wedding in Navasota, TX tomorrow afternoon.  The wedding is for my friend Brent.  I lived with Brent from September 2001 through August 2003.   Our apartment in Houston was simply known as “808″. There are so many great stories to tell from there. Brent has been good friend the past 8 year or so that I’ve known him, and I’m really excited for him. Really looking forward to seeing some old friends and his Mom and Dad, their fine folks from the U.P.; the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Houghton, MI to be exact.

Cheers
